I don't even know where to start. This will be very short and sweet. I know a big change is about to come, and I hate changes. Not necessarily changes, just endings. It makes me think of Pres. Uchtdorf's talk and what he said about endings. We don't like endings because we are eternal beings. I knew that one day this 1 1/2 years would have to come to a close, but it has never hit quite as hard as it's hitting me now. I don't want it to end! And then I realized I was being unreasonable. This doesn't have to end! There is no end. God has no end. Even though I will be doing completely different things and jumping into a completely new chapter of life, this experience will never end for me. It's not just something I can check off a check-list. I'm so thankful for this experience as a full-time missionary. Even though I may not always wear a black name tag, my mission for Jesus Christ will never end. I have learned so much about love, life, and loving life. And there is so much to love! And I can't wait to keep on keeping on, keep loving, keep living. And I get to do it with all of you! Thank you for your support, prayers, emails, letters, and love. I love you so much, and I can't wait to talk to you for reals later this week!!</div>

we celebrated with sizzlers. a little better than KFC. we figured we would make up for our lack of celebration on the 4th of July...</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
This week was amazing. I'm learning more and more about God's way of working with us. Every time we pick on a Christlike attribute to work on for the week, God pours out opportunities to try that attribute. We picked faith this past week. And sure enough, our faith was tried. Day after day, investigators were dropping like flies. Friday came, and we were starting to worry, and became a little discouraged. We taught the Book of Mormon class that day, and we read chapters 16-17 in 1 Nephi. I kept thinking about how Nephi was almost always alone in his faith and obedience, while everyone around him became instantly discouraged and started murmuring and doubting their faith. It was kind of a wake up call. Inflection point! We decided we could keep feeling bad for ourselves because of our 'broken bow' and the fact that we couldn't find any 'food'...OR we could put it all behind us and keep expecting and working for the miracle waiting around the corner. So that's what we did. On Saturday, we still didn't know who was getting baptized the next day. We prayed every hour for a miracle. The younger sister of one of our RC's really wanted to be baptized on Sunday, but had been sick the entire week and wasn't able to meet with us. On Saturday afternoon her sister called us and said that she was feeling better and could go to the church to interview that day. She interviewed and passed, and was baptized Sunday. She and her sister read the scriptures and pray together every night! On Sunday, her mom came to see her baptism. I can't wait to see her whole family come into the church one day.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
I know that God is a God of miracles. He is so perfectly aware of His children, and nothing can stand in the way of His perfect work. I'm SO thankful to be a part of it all!</div>

I feel like I was just sitting at this computer yesterday. Don't really know where to start with this week, other than the fact that it went by super fast. Lots of rain lately. And if it's not raining, it's overcast...which isn't exactly my favorite kind of weather, but I guess I can't complain that we have some nice shade. We've definitely been caught in the rain a couple times this week though. Thank goodness for colorful rain ponchos from the 7/11.</span><br />
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Bro. Nuay got baptized yesterday!! He works as a radio host/announcer...so teaching him was interesting. He likes to talk. And only talk. He feels like he doesn't have a lot of knowledge, but he knows he has a lot of faith. And that's all that's required! Faith and desire. His baptism day was wonderful, and the Branch President baptized him. They're best buds now. Nuay's testimony was probably one of the most dramatic things I've ever heard...more like speech actually. Like I said, he loves to talk. But the Spirit was there, and He knows that His life is changing for the better. Great guy.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Lessons I learned this week: </div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Don't teach lessons at McDonald's. The music is way too loud, and the investigators eventually lose interest and don't take you seriously.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
There is a friendly neighborhood salad lady just around the corner from our church. She even sold a version of croutons that was semi-delicious. </div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
There really are places to eat around the church, you just have to look for them first. We discovered a little Italian restaurant that changed my world. I ate pesto pasta for the first time in 18 months.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
If you decide to work on a Christlike attribute for the week, it instantly becomes harder. Because all of a sudden you're provided with opportunities to strengthen your weaknesses. Fun times.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Thai people are the most loving andd happy people on this world. The worst they can do is ignore me, and I realize I've had it so easy....in comparison to the American man that told me to "Get out of the way!" the other day. That's not to say that American men aren't nice...I just had the opportunity to exercise my love and charity...and it took everything in me not to say some sassy remark right back at him...haha ohhhh i still have such a long way to go.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
I learned that everyone has their agency...some people just don't use it wisely.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
I learned that I have a reason to believe what I believe. Because I have seen how Jesus Christ can change a life around. I have also seen the opposite. I have learned what it feels like to see people reject Him. And it really hurts. And it took me a while to figure out why. At first I almost felt like I had been broken up with, when investigators dropped, or CHOSE not to follow Christ. But now I'm realizing it's not a personal blow to me. Not at all. Because they're not rejecting me, they're rejecting Him. And that's why it hurts. Because sometimes people don't fully understand what He did for them, and what He can continue to do for them. It's merely our responsibility to be His disciples, and to share this with the world. Because I would rather be rejected 1000 times over and have people know more about Him, then to walk silently by. Because "fools mock, but they shall mourn...". Some may not be ready for this message yet, but I am so grateful that little by little, we are gathering those that have been prepared, those that have been ready to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. And there is such joy and fulfillment in this work! Go out and share it with someone!! :) And those are my rambled thoughts for the week.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Love you all,</div>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica; mso-bidi-font-family: Helvetica; mso-fareast-language: JA;">I love this place! mostly missionary work is
just a blast. it's definitely work. but it's so much fun if you let it be. this
week has been great, and sis. sahagun and i have seen a lot of miracles. we did
a LOT of street contacting this week, and by the end of each day, my voice was
pretty much gone. i've been meeting a lot of christian people lately, which is
refreshing. i ran into a lot of muslim people in saphansung, so i've been
impressed at the amount of christians here...although it's still probably only
about 1% of all the people i talk to. anyway, we've been super busy lately, so
much that sometimes i don't have time to think haha. or at the end of the night
10:29 hits and i have to scramble all over the room to get my pj's on and brush
my teeth and get into bed. time just flies by when you're having fun. but it
flies by WAY too fast! maybe i should just have less fun?? then maybe time
would pass by a little slower.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica; mso-bidi-font-family: Helvetica; mso-fareast-language: JA;">yesterday (sunday) was amazing. Niw and Suni
were baptized. there were a total of 4 baptisms in the Thonburi branch yesterday...which
hasn't happened in...well i don't think it's ever happened. this branch is getting
really excited about missionary work, and church attendance is growing. ps
sorry for my typing errors...this keyboard is a bit challenged. or maybe it's
not the keyboardd...i struggle. anyway, yesterday was such a special
experience. sacrament meeting was awesome, and the spirit was SO strong. we had
12 new investigators that showed up to church, and they all had a really good time.
sis. Sahagun and I were in charge of teaching the investigator class this
week....so hopefully everyone understood the words coming out of our mouths.
the lesson was on sacrifice, and we talked a lot about Christ's ultimate
sacrifice for us. We also pointed out the example of Aaron teaching King
Lamoni's father in the Book of Mormon. the King was willing to give up
EVERYTHING to receive the joy that Aaron talked of. it really made me
think...what am I willing to give up to really KNOW God. if we truly understand
WHO God actually is, we will never fall away. because we'll always be close to
Him. and if we KNOW God, we will kNow Christ, because they are ONE. not one
being, but they are so much the same. in purpose. if we know one, then we know
the other. i love that.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

It's weird to think that just one week ago we were homeless and the branch was branch president...less...and it's amazing to see how much the Lord can do in just ONE week. We are now almost completely moved in, and we are no longer sleeping with towels and skirts as blankets. It's been so good to finally get semi-settled and dive into the work.</span><br style="color: #666666; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 16.899999618530273px; outline: 0px;" /><br style="color: #666666; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 16.899999618530273px; outline: 0px;" /><span style="color: #666666; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 16.899999618530273px;">Thonburi is street contacting heaven, and we will surely NEVER run out of people to talk to. On Wednesday we were able to finally go out and invite ALL day and it felt so good. We saw SO many miracles! Definitely had our fair share of rejection, but also met people that had been searching and praying to find a church, and were so excited to meet us. Sunday was probably the best day of the week. There was just a completely different feeling at church this week. There was excitement. Sis. Sahagun and I were just so happy the entire day about everything that happened! Church attendance was up, a new branch president was called, there were lots of investigators at church, and the members were so excited about it all. There were 80 people at church this week!! That's almost double what it was two weeks ago!! We had the opportunity to teach one investigator who had stayed til after the baptism, and she's amazing. We call her '8:59'. One night this week we were inviting close to our house and it was about time to go home. But then we decided in the 6 minutes that were left, we wanted to find one more really golden person who wanted to be baptized. So we decided we wouldn't go home until we found that one person. We continued talking to everyone, inviting every single person, and once 8:57 hit, I was a worried we'd be out there all night. But then, at 8:59, just in the nick of time, we found Suni. She came to church, and now has a baptismal date for next Sunday. We asked some older members to help us teach her, one of them being a recently returned LA. I felt like I was in a help-group or something. It was great! These women were so supportive and so excited to share their testimonies. They just needed to be given the opportunity to do so. Fellow-shipping is really the key to strong converts!</span><br style="color: #666666; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 16.899999618530273px; outline: 0px;" /><br style="color: #666666; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 16.899999618530273px; outline: 0px;" /><span style="color: #666666; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 16.899999618530273px;">I'm so happy here, and every time I think I can't get happier, I'm wrong. I just wish I could slow time down. Either that, or tack on another 3 months. Right as I'm finally figuring out how to be a missionary, time has almost run out! Which is why we're just going to block it out of our minds and keep sprinting! I love the urgency of this work, and I can't wait to see the miracles of the coming week.</span><br style="color: #666666; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 16.899999618530273px; outline: 0px;" /><br style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;" /><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">I love you all! Hope the 4th of July was great, and that everyone ate a hot dog. I miss those. I treated myself to a Krispy Kreme doughnut, which I hadn't had in ages....mostly because there are probably two Krispy Kreme stores in the entire country. anyway, it was a good day.</span><br style="color: #666666; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 16.899999618530273px; outline: 0px;" /><br style="color: #666666; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 16.899999618530273px; outline: 0px;" /><span style="color: #666666; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 16.899999618530273px;">Sister Steele. <span style="font-family: Helvetica; mso-bidi-font-family: Helvetica; mso-fareast-language: JA;">yes. i moved. wow! i thought i just might
finish out my mission in Saphansung...which would have been quite lovely. but i
knew a change was coming, and i knew there was one more destination i needed to
see. this week has been CRAZY, and kind of a blur...so i might not be good at
getting to all the details. but i do want to tell you everything. because i've
had some great adventures. so maybe i'll take it day by day...<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-layout-grid-align: none; mso-pagination: none; text-autospace: none;">

<span style="font-family: Helvetica; mso-bidi-font-family: Helvetica; mso-fareast-language: JA;">monday (last week): last pday in Saphansung.
Sis. Ference and I braved up and got hair cuts. i made sure they only took of a
teeny tiny bit. you can hardly even tell. success! we went to our last taco
night at one of the member's houses. their family is AMAZING, and is such a
good example for the church here. they were the first family from thailand to
be sealed in the temple in the Phillipines. we had an awesome FHE, and sis.
ference and i serenaded them with our violin duet (which we practiced...once)<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-layout-grid-align: none; mso-pagination: none; text-autospace: none;">

<span style="font-family: Helvetica; mso-bidi-font-family: Helvetica; mso-fareast-language: JA;">tuesday: food poisoning. again. up all night
in the bathroom, so that was fun. but the show must go on. we taught a sweet
girl named Earn that i had met at the market. she had come to church on sunday,
and was very willing to learn and to change her life. i was kind of sad that
would be the last time i taught her... (spoiler alert...i just found out she
got baptized yesterday!!! I am so HAPPY!!)<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-layout-grid-align: none; mso-pagination: none; text-autospace: none;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-layout-grid-align: none; mso-pagination: none; text-autospace: none;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica; mso-bidi-font-family: Helvetica; mso-fareast-language: JA;">wednesday: last day in saphansung. i had to
go renew my VISA in Asoke, and then we just contacted at the market one last
time. on tuesday, one of our stellar investigators, Babe, got permission from
pres. senior to be baptized earlier than her scheduled date. she would have had
to wait a month, because she's underage. but this girl was DYING to be
baptized, so we had pushed for her baptism day to be a few weeks earlier. she's
16, and the cutest girl ever. when she found out she could be baptized, she cried,
danced, and jumped around the room. if that isn't a sign of true conversion, i
don't know what is. anyway, she was baptized on wednesday, my last day in
saphansung. she's so amazing. and she'll be so strong in the church. she
actually reminds me a little bit of sis. Phavadee. always smiling and always
happy. after the baptism, the ward had a little party for the two young men in
our ward that would be leaving on their missions the next week. they're going
to be serving in THailand!! so maybe i'll see them around! that night was a
good night, and it was good to see/talk to everyone/say goodbye...at least for
now. i'll be back here for sure! this place is too good to be true.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica; mso-bidi-font-family: Helvetica; mso-fareast-language: JA;">thursday: TRANSFERS. you will now be reading
exclusive information that hasn't even made it into my journal. don't get too
excited. that just means i'm way behind on my journal writing, and i've be so
busy i haven't even written about my current area yet. haha. anyway, I am now
in THON BURI!!!! with sis. sahagun as my companion. she's from my same group in
the MTC. Thon buri is another area of west Bangkok, closer to Asoke. i really
thought i would be moving out of Bangkok, but now i'm actually really glad i
stayed. there's SO many people here and i'm SO excited to turn this area around.
when they made a second stake, they also made a new district, and i'm in that
district now. the branch i've been assigned to used to be a ward, and our goal
is to make it a ward again, and to help this district become a stake. this area
is definitely different than my last, but i just can't wait to get things going
and to find those that are ready to be baptized here. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-layout-grid-align: none; mso-pagination: none; text-autospace: none;">

<span style="font-family: Helvetica; mso-bidi-font-family: Helvetica; mso-fareast-language: JA;">friday: soooo we are currently homeless. we
house-hunted pretty much all day. woof. this area hasn't had sisters in YEARS.
so we're basically opening up the area and setting everything up. like a house.
i guess that's kind of essential. it's kind of crazy starting completely from
scratch. fun though! the members are ecstatic that there are now sister
missionaries in the branch. and they are all so ready and willing to take us
around to look for a house. right now we are staying at a...hotel...if you
could call it that. haha it has a bed. and a bathroom. all i need! we've also
been sort of living in the church library, because that's where all our
suitcases are stored.7/11 is a blessing. good thing there's one on every corner
so we don't have to look too far for food. such adventures we're having.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica; mso-bidi-font-family: Helvetica; mso-fareast-language: JA;">saturday: house hunting. again. i think i
got a sunburn.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica; mso-bidi-font-family: Helvetica; mso-fareast-language: JA;">sunday: CHURCH!! yay! i love sundays. this
branch is so cute. we had about 40 people come to church, which was a pretty
good turn out for this branch. they currently don't have a branch presidency,
so they're in the process of calling one. so now sis. sahagun and i just have a
joke when we go out contacting that we're out looking for a good branch
president. we just have to find him and baptize him! we also did some more
house hunting, and actually had some success this time. we're hoping to get
moved into an apartment by tonight. so cross your fingers! or better yet, maybe
say a lot of prayers :)<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-layout-grid-align: none; mso-pagination: none; text-autospace: none;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica; mso-bidi-font-family: Helvetica; mso-fareast-language: JA;">oh and last night we found a lovely surprise
at the church. i saw the biggest scariest spider i have ever seen. and i'm not
usually one to be scared of spiders. my pre-mission self would have killed
little spiders with my fingers. but this one was not little. it was probably as
big as my hand, and it was big and brown and ugly, and i screamed. i threw a
few hymn books at it, but it didn't die. so then i slid one across the floor,
trapping it in the corner. it still didn't die, but i managed to get some of
it's legs ripped off in the pages of the hymn book. gross. finally sis. sahagun
smashed a good one on it, and then we had a curled up spider body, a few
appendages, and a good load of guts all over the hymn book. success.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-layout-grid-align: none; mso-pagination: none; text-autospace: none;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-layout-grid-align: none; mso-pagination: none; text-autospace: none;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica; mso-bidi-font-family: Helvetica; mso-fareast-language: JA;">i'm sorry this letter is so long, and if you
made it to the end...thanks for reading! even though i only mentioned all the
craziness, know that we are still seeing miracles. know that i am alive and
well, and extremely happy. God is taking care of us, and I know there's a
reason for the increase in missionaries in this area. God has great things in
store for the faithful members here, and i can't wait to see it all. keep the
prayers coming! love you all!<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">The land of smiles is still the land of smiles. Even when it's pouring rain. the people here are so dang happy ALL the time. and even though i don't like the rain, and probably never will, i just couldn't wipe the smile off my face this week. why is this so gooooood??? because this is real. this is true. this is real life. although sometimes i feel like i'm living in a dream. i have seen some serious miracles this week, and every day i am more and more sure that God is driving this bus. there are no accidents and no coincidences when it comes to God's work. and i have seen that this past week. </span><br />
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
ah! i can't even explain how great this week was. i have seen some amazing people overcome huge road blocks in order to embrace the truth. Sister Saa was previously Muslim, and her whole family is as well. she knows they wouldn't approve of her being baptized, but she knew it was right. she was baptized on Saturday night, and i felt the spirit stronger at that service than i have at any other baptismal service. Sis. Fern and her son Fong, Noom, and Ing-Ing were all baptized on Sunday. OH it was such a good day. later that night it rained. it rained really hard. we got caught in the storm at the Minburi market, our usual inviting place. we actually didn't have that much success that night, and i'm pretty sure i only got one phone number. but i still just couldn't stop smiling. one man asked why we didn't just go home. it's raining! you need to go home! you're going to get sick! why are you still walking around out here in this weather?? i looked at him and then back at my little picture of Jesus Christ being baptized. "Because this is important. Because this is true." so i will stay out here until all have had the chance to hear what i have to say. and that's why i'm here. and every day that goes by is the best day. because this is quite possibly "the closest thing to real life" that I'll ever get...as Elder Holland would say.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
I know that God lives. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the pathway back to our Father in Heaven, and that the fullness of this gospel can only be found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know this is true. and I love it!</div>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">hellohello.</span><br />
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Since my last letter was long and awesome, this one might be kinda short. not sure if it was today or yesterday for you dad, but HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!! or just make it Father's week. that's much better. we should celebrate a whole week for fathers. and mothers. and when it's our birthday. a day is much too short.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
anyway, here are some highlights from the week:</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
1. rain. actually this does not deserve to go under the highlight section. i'm not a big fan of rain and i never have been. but that's ok. we've been trying to get along lately. but now that i don't have my trusty bike to get me places quickly, i'm left to trudge through the rain. the people on the market street get to see the two soaking wet sisters walking down the street every day, asking them if they want to wash their sins. ohhhh and on this same market street, i have the privilege of passing a....meat shop...if that's what you would call it. every time we pass they are chopping up an animal. usually it's a pig. today i saw a few fresh feet sitting on the table, as the butcher chopped with his huge knife and pieces of raw pig came flying out at me. yum. </div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
2. I learned how to make cashew chicken today. probably one of my favorite dishes here. i tried to write things down...hopefully it will taste half as good in america.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
3. stake conference! that happened yesterday. and we now have TWO stakes in Thailand!!! the first stake was formed her 19 years ago. and yesterday, a new stake was formed in Bangkok, as well as a new district. this is HUGE! the church is growing faster in Thailand than in any other country in the Asia area. i don't think it will be long before we see a couple more stakes popping up. which means we're getting even closer to having a temple here!! so cool. I'm so thankful to have a front row seat in seeing God's great and marvelous work as it unfolds. i'm so thankful for this experience and i can't imagine my life without it.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
love you all!</div>

<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
i don't even know where to start. i can start with last monday. we went to Asoke to have our interviews with President for Zone Conference, and when we got back, our bikes were gone. i was in denial for a few minutes. maybe somebody just moved them?? maybe i forgot that we actually left them at home?? nope. somebody just grabbed both mine and sis. ference's bikes, probably threw them in a truck, and that was that. they were even locked together! oh well. it serves us right for parking them where we did, because sis. holmes had already had TWO bikes stolen here, in the space of two weeks. anyway, we've been walking everywhere, which is fine. but then we tend to be late to just about everything too. for the next few weeks, a member is letting me borrow her bike, which has a nifty little basket in the front. and the seat is extremely comfortable. so i feel like i've been upgraded.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
our investigator, Har, who was supposed to be baptized yesterday, had a mishap with his eyes...apparently he can't see very well right now because of an infection or something...so he didn't show up to his interview, and then didn't show up to church. we were getting really worried, but then when i called him today, he explained everything. all is well. it was really stressful at the time though. </div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
despite our little set-backs, the week ended on a really good note, and there were still really good things that happened. because the good will ALWAYS outweigh the bad. always. </div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
MIRACLES:</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
1. Ing-ing</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
we have an investigator named Ing-ing. she asked us if she could go street contacting with us. she has learned 2 lessons. i know plenty of missionaries that don't enjoy street contacting, and here is this awesome girl WANTING to go out into the blazing sun and get rejected over and over again. the day that we went, she showed up at the church and brought a dress with her to change into. she asked for a missionary planner and a pen to get people's numbers. she told me that she had asked Heavenly Father the night before to fine somebody who was interested. i think she was shocked at how much people turned us down, or how many people wouldn't even stop to talk to us. but by the end of the day she had two numbers...and those people both came to church the next day! and one of them will be baptized on the 22nd.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
2. Zone conference.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
exactly what i needed. and it made me understand repentance so much differently than i had before. it is not simply saying sorry for the things you do wrong. repentance is the way that we can literally BECOME like God. Elder Christofferson says that "our goal in this life is not simply just to go live with God again. Otherwise, why would we have ever left His presence in the first place? The ultimate goal in this life is to BECOME LIKE HIM." loveeeee that.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
oh. and i played my violin as part of the special musical numbers. none of us really got to practice before that day, so it was all thrown together last minute. but it was good. luckily i had a really good cello to drown me out.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
3. Sunday.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
All the people we expected to come to church didn't really show up...but a lot of unexpected golden people showed up. every single person that came to church yesterday was so different than anyone i would every expect to enter a church building...but they were all miracles. </div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Rong. Brother Rong looks like the kind of guy that i wouldn't want to be caught in a dark alley way with. he came to church wearing a black 'Led Zepplin' shirt, and was smoking when we met him. he has a crazy eye, so i never really know which eye to look at when i'm talking to him. anyway, he's an interesting guy, but he accepted EVERYTHING we taught him yesterday. he's so excited to be baptized, and he told us that he knows it's his time now. he knows he's found the truth.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Noom. Noom is Muslim. he's covered in tattoos and piercings. when i first met him i didn't really think he would ACTUALLY come to church. And then Sunday came. it had been two weeks since i first talked to him, and he had never answered his phone since then. he walked into the church and asked me what he needed to do to be clean from his sin.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
4. Fern. Fern also came to church on sunday...and she's actually come the past 3 Sundays. so here's Fern's story. A few weeks ago we had our Ward Conference, and stake leaders came from various areas. One of the members from Asoke brought her friend with her, who happened to live in our area. Her name was Fern. She had been talking to this friend that is already a member a lot about the church, but was NOT ready to be baptized. The first time we met with her we taught the Restoration, and she already knew a lot. She had met with the missionaries before a few months back, and read a little in the Book of Mormon. During our first lesson, we challenged her to be baptized, and she flat out gave us a big fat NO. We tried to give her a date for a little later on, and she said she just wasn't ready. She wanted to finish the Book of Mormon all the way through and then MAYBE she would think about being baptized. So we just figured we had tried to give her a date 2 years too soon. We almost dropped her actually. Her heart was just so closed off. The second time we met with her, we watched the video about the Restoration, and the Spirit was SO strong. We didn't even really say much in that lesson, but the member that helped us teach said ALL the right things. There was definitely something different about that lesson. The next day we called her, she was reading in Mosiah. The next day, she had gotten to 3 Nephi, and she told me that she made a promise with God that when she finished the Book of Mormon, she would be baptized. We called her the next day...and she said, "Sisters, I finished the Book of Mormon. I need to be baptized next week." She will be baptized this coming week with her 10 year old son.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
I want to testify right now about the converting power of the Book of Mormon. This was a miracle that I never really expected or even asked for. But it's not about me. It's about Fern and God. And by reading the Book of Mormon, her heart completely flipped around. I still can't even really believe it. God is God, and He will do miracles. And I know we can all be converted by the Book of Mormon every day.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Sorry this is a complete novel! Love you all.</div>

<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Our cute little investigator, May, was baptized yesterday. She's our little miracle for the week. And Sis. Nok was confirmed yesterday too. Ohhhh sis. nok. she's seriously a weirdo...and that's why i LOVE her. she's the one that always matches her outfit with her hat. I called her on saturday night to make sure she would be coming to church on time the next morning, etc. she told me she might be a little late because she had to go to a salon to wash her hair....what?? i told her she didn't need to do that, because that would be spending money on sunday, and we're not supposed to do that...remember? these sweet little recent converts are so new in the church...they're still learning and growing. she was all out of sorts, because she had forgotten about that rule, but she didn't know what she would do now, because she was "quite literally incapable of washing her own hair." she told me she hadn't washed her own hair for 10 years now....wow this lady is one of a kind. she didn't want to be confirmed if her hair was dirty, and her hair was "really dirty" as she said. running out of solutions, i found myself telling her to come to the church at 8am before church, and i would wash her hair for her. WOOF. hahahaha oh the adventures you have as a missionary. so there i was, the next morning. early in the morning, washing sis. nok's hair in the bathroom sink, pouring cups of water over her head to rinse out the shampoo (which she had brought with her, along with conditioner). oh, and she came fully equipped with a hair dryer too. as members started showing up, they gave us the weirdest looks. oh well. gotta love sis. nok.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
second miracle for the week, which also involves an interesting person. i met a man at the market this past week. when we met with him for the first time, he said he had a dream that made him know that he needs to be baptized. he dreamed that a bunch of ferangs (which is the word for 'white people, or foreigners') who were on white horses, came down and picked him up and took him up to heaven. well that's probably just about the weirdest dream i've ever heard...but we told him it was an answer from God. Because God works in peculiar ways, as i've learned. this man is awesome, too. his foot was hurting him really bad on sunday, and he couldn't put on his shoe, so he almost didn't come to church. but then i reminded him of his dream, and that God wanted him to come to church, and he would provide a way. He came 15 minutes late, but he came...wearing flip flops. i'll take it. </div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
the faith that these people have is amazing. they're not perfect. and the church is still very young and new here. but they're trying. if we were perfect, we wouldn't even need this gospel. the gospel of Jesus Christ is a church for imperfect people. it is a gospel to help us BECOME. to become better. to become healed. to become like Jesus Christ. to become perfect. as long as we are striving, struggling, and desiring....every little thing is gonna be alright. </div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">

<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">

hello.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
for all that may be wondering about the craziness that is going on in this country, don't worry. it's really not as bad as it looks/sounds/seems. Since 1932, Thailand has had 12 coups (or around that). And it's always back to normal after a month or so. The Thai people are super laid back, so they kind of just roll with whatever is going on around them. 'i can't really imagine these people getting riled up about anything. yes, there have been 'riots' if that's what you would call them. but we never see any of it, because we're on the outskirts of Bangkok. so anyway, despite the country now being under martial law and such, everything is just grand. they have set a curfew for the entire country, which is 10pm to 5am. everyone has to be in their houses during that time. for the past few days, the mission decided to take extra precautions and be on the safe side. so all of us had to be in by 8pm and then we weren't allowed to street contact for a few days, just to keep a low profile. WOW. i never knew what it would do to me. i think i just about went crazy. i literally COULD NOT talk to people about the gospel the way i had been doing previously. let's just say we spent the last few days making LOTS of phone calls, eating a little bit too much food, updating paperwork, and pacing back and forth.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
This week was definitely an interesting week, but God's work could not be frustrated. One of our investigators got baptized yesterday, and she was the happiest I had ever seen her. I think I love her the most for her sense of style. Every day that we taught her, she came wearing a different color of dress, with matching polka-dots, along with a matching hat. When I met her on the street, she was green. Last Sunday was red. Monday was yellow. Wednesday was red again. Saturday was black. And yesterday, Sunday, she showed up in all white...with a matching white hat to top it all off. I love this woman! </div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
On Thursday, we did a companionship switch-off with the sisters in Bangkapi. I prayed really hard for miracles to happen on both ends. And God heard me! One of the investigators in Bangkapi will be getting baptized on this Saturday, helping them to make the goal for this month! Here in Saphansung, Sis. Ference and Sis. Peterson went contacting almost all day long. As they were about to head back, the last girl that Sis. Ference tuned and invited to church REALLY wanted to go to church. She had been baptized before into a Protestant church, but the members had kind of "thrown her away" after that. And she felt unwelcome, so she stopped going to church for 2 years. She said she was at the point where she was about to give up on God, and had been searching for an answer. She was contemplating the idea of just be Buddhist again. And then she met the missionaries. She has been to the church every single day since then to learn with us. Which is a HUGE blessing, since we weren't allowed to go contacting after that. She already has good friends at the church, and she believes everything we teach her. She has so much faith. I am SO thankful that Heavenly Father is aware of us. He is aware of His missionaries, and the miracles they stand in need of. He is aware of His giant work that is progressing all over the world, yet He still has the time stop and notice one of His daughters in Thailand, at a market, waiting for a bus, praying in her heart to find the truth. Her name is May, and she's done searching now. He answered both of our prayers that day!</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
I'm SO EXCITED to get out and work again. I can't even explain. The past few days were....weird. I felt lazy, unfocused, and stir-crazy. It gave me a good long time to reflect on my purpose. And it made me realize how extremely lucky we are to have the privilege to go out and proclaim His gospel to all the world. It is meant to be SHARED.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
may your last week of may be wonderful.</div>

What a week!<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">i just want to say that i'm thankful that i have a good healthy 60+ years of life left to keep pounding out my dumb little flaws that make me imperfect. this week i noticed i have a lot to work on. which is normal. i think i realize that every day. and every time i get stressed out and worry that i'm not perfect yet, i have to look at my lifespan and realize that i have many more years ahead. it's all good.</span><br />
<div style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">
i know we all have those spacy moments, or air-head moments, as i would call them. this week i've been kicking myself for not using my common sense, and decided i probably need to just go back to the basics of bike-riding 101. we had planned a companion switch-off with the sisters in Bangkapi, so i had an extra bag with me. i hung my other bag on my handle-bars, thinking i was so smart and resourceful. then the bag got caught in my tire, and my bike came to a complete stop. but i kept moving. so then i was flying over the handle bars, and luckily my trusty chin caught my fall. don't ask me why i didn't think to use my hands...i don't know what they were doing at the time. anyway, i didn't end up going on the switch-off that day. i got 5 stitches instead. i still have some gnarly bruises, and it was a few days before i could eat regular foods, because my jaw was a little bit sore (a lot). but all is well! and mom, you don't need to be worried to much. if you are, just imagine me flying through the air, and you'll have a good laugh. anyway, i should be getting my stitches out<span class="aBn" data-term="goog_1601385742" style="border-bottom-color: rgb(204, 204, 204); border-bottom-style: dashed; border-bottom-width: 1px; position: relative; top: -2px; z-index: 0;" tabindex="0"><span class="aQJ" style="position: relative; top: 2px; z-index: -1;">on wednesday</span></span>. cross your fingers.</div>

other than my biking adventure, this week was pretty dang good. Nat, our investigator that supposed to be baptized last week, was baptized yesterday. He's AWESOME. he worked so hard to give up alcohol. and he did it! it goes to show that with God, NOTHING is impossible. There's been a lot of emphasis in our mission lately to remember the WHY of missionary work. it's been on my mind a lot lately too. whenever i think of WHY i'm here I think of Jesus Christ. because He literally is the WHY, WHAT, WHO, and HOW. He's the reason i'm here, not just on a mission, but simply existing. He is hope, love, joy, peace, perfection, and salvation. and i love Him for that.</div>

Another week in Saphansung! I really hope I'm here to see the end of this month. Sis. Ference and I are seeing a lot of miracles in May. Two of our golden investigators were baptized yesterday. It is amazing to me how much God can do with the hearts of men. One of our investigators started out only believing in God 50/50, but then...he PRAYED. He asked God Himself if He was real, and he got an answer. It's as simple and easy as a simple prayer, which is evident in the experience of Joseph Smith as well. One prayer changed the world. Satan worked really hard to stop God's work this week. On the day that all of our baptismal candidates were supposed to interview, one thing or another went wrong. One investigator had a few friends that got into a bar fight the night before, and being the saintly friend that he is, he had to take care of them and be with them at the hospital. He was about 3 hours late to his interview, but he made it. The sweet lady that got baptized yesterday is physically handicapped, and takes a LONG time in traveling places. She was also 2 hours late to her interview, and got stuck waiting for a bus at the market. But she made it. Our third investigator passed his interview....and then came to church the next day and told us that he had drunk/drank/dr0nken/drinked/sipped/consumed(or whatever word you would use there...) some alcohol the night before. Ouch. So we're having him wait til next week, but I think this experience is good for him, and helped him to realize what it feels like to have Godly sorrow and to truly repent before he is baptized. We have followed up with every investigator every day, and I have really seen an increase of my love for them. In just one week, I feel like I really know these people, and really want to help them. The woman with the physical handicap called us later last night after her baptism, and thanked us. She thanked God and Jesus Christ for giving her permission to be baptized. And then she said that she was currently collecting her monthly income so she could pull out 10 percent in order to pay tithing next week. Ah she's so great! Anyway, I've rambled long enough now, but I do have one more miracle to share:</div>
<div>

<blockquote style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;" type="cite">
<div>
One night this week, we were hurrying out of the church because it was almost 9pm, and the elders made it out just before we did. Which was a bummer, because then we knew we would have to lock the front gate. The front gate is a beast, and the latch gets stuck almost every single time, making it almost impossible to lock. So this night it was being particularly difficult, and the latch just would NOT slide into the hole, and as hard as we kicked, pushed, pulled, and tugged, it wouldn't lock. By this time we were late getting home, but we couldn't just leave without locking the church. We debated a few times to call the Elders to help us. But the feminist in me said, "NO. You can do this." So we kept trying and trying for another 10 minutes and decided we may have to sacrifice our pride and call the Elders. But then I realized we hadn't even prayed yet. Why would we ask the Elders for help before we ask God for help?? So we said a prayer right then and there. Not two minutes later, we got an answer. The Elders showed up. They rode in on their bikes, because they had forgotten something at the church. And of course, they got the gate locked smoothly and easily, leaving us feeling defeated and humbled. So maybe we should have just called the Elders in the first place! HAHA God works in strange ways sometimes. And it wasn't the miracle I was expecting, but I'll take it. I'm glad to know that God has a sense of humor.</div>

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to my mumsers!! I love you so much!! It was great to see your face and talk for a little while. love you all!</div>

<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Things are going really great here. This past week, Sis. Ference and I have worked really hard, and are trying to just take it a week at a time. We have two investigators looking really good to get baptized on this coming Sunday, and two others that came to church yesterday...and will also be getting baptized on Sunday. We'll do all we can to help them meet their goal! Overall this week has been awesome, and every time I think I couldn't be happier, God proves me wrong. Every day when I wake up, I know I'm happier than the day before. And if things don't go exactly as I plan, or I hit set-backs, then I just have to look at the little miracles. Having investigators come to church is great, but seeing new members (who were investigators just a week ago) come to church and continue to progress is even greater. Seeing brand new converts come to church, bear their testimony, and then ask you if they can pay their tithing that day...is probably one of the best things to see as a missionary. I love these people so much.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Following up with investigators EVERY day is SO important! I have a testimony of that now. We have an investigator that is trying really hard to quit drinking alcohol, and HE called US yesterday to thank us for helping him change his life. I'm so excited for him to be baptized this week.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
I love this area, I love these people, I love this work, and I love my companion. I feel like every companion I have had has been strangely a lot like me, but an extremely better version of myself that I want to become. Anyway, things are just great here in Saphansung.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
If you couldn't tell by the formal tone in the last 3 paragraphs, the previous 3 paragraphs were really just copied and pasted from my letter to president. because time is precious, and everything i told him was what i wanted to tell you. but...naturally, there are parts about my mission life that i would not include to my letter to president....like the time when i chased down a lady in front of the church. she was walking way too fast, and we needed more investigators at church that day...so we RAN. when she heard footsteps coming behind her, she turned around and kind of put her hands up like she was afraid we would hit her or something. maybe we should change our approach...? also, running every morning has been great. except for when we get 15 min. out and i decide i HAVE to go to the bathroom. all i could think of the whole time was rachel in her water-shoes..."oh looky there...it's RACHEL...and she's BOOKING it to the bathroom." (british accent). </div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
anyway, all in all, the mission is EVERYTHING. it's hard, awesome, work, cool, spiritual, fun, happy, sad, crazy, wonderful. mostly it's just PERFECT. because life doesn't get better than this. i love you all so much. thank you for your prayers, keep them coming!</div>

<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
this week has been crazy! last monday right after i got done emailing i found out that both sis. holmes and i would be leaving <span style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">สะพานสูง. that made me sad. i was kind of expecting it, but then when the moment comes, it's so SAD. noooo i can't leave this place and these people. so we went about our day, preparing for a white-wash (when both missionaries leave and two brand new ones come into the area and have no idea what's going on in the area). basically, i've gone into areas white-washing and training every single time so far, so i felt like that would probably be happening again soon. anyway, we got everything taken care of, and then we had FHE that night at the Bruso's house (the american family in our ward). while we were there the A.P.'s called and told me i'm actually NOT moving. mixed emotions. i'm SO happy to still be here, but then at the same time, i had already wrapped my head around moving. but mostly i'm relieved that i get to stay and introduce the area to the next sister that comes in so we don't have people fall through the cracks, especially with all our recent converts. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<span style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<span style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">so transfers meeting. sis. holmes is going to Chiang Rai!!! that lucky duck. she'll do so good. i'm really gonna miss her. my new companion is sis. ference! she's amazing. she's from Holladay, Utah, and she's been out in the field 8 months so far. first time ever that i haven't trained! weird. she's so gOOD at everything. i'm really glad i have the chance to be her companion, even if it's just for a short time. (i have a feeling i'll be moving sometime in the near future). oh, and she's super good at going running every morning. and so begins my long and painful adventure of getting back into shape. oh. my. word. my legs hurt so bad, and i basically hobble around for the rest of the day. it's awesome though. we get to go running through a beautiful neighborhood called 'Perfect Place.' ironic. it's so perfect. hopefully my running will start to show results, because yesterday at church one of my RC's told me i had gotten fatter. so honest and blunt here haha.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<span style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<span style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">on sunday (yesterday) Acare got baptized. and we started teaching another girl named Earth. she's pretty much perfect. there's so many prepared people here. and then there's those that reject us hard core. like the lady i talked to yesterday who told me she wasn't ready to have eternal life. or the man who was quite certain he had never sinned in his life. (which he told me as he smoked his cigarette). i'm thankful that i know what i know. i am thankful that i know about Jesus Christ. I am thankful that I know that He lives. not only does He live, but His teachings will make bad men good, and good men better. He knows the way, because He is the way. and i LOVE testifying of Him each and every day.</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">

<span style="font-family: Helvetica; mso-bidi-font-family: Helvetica; mso-fareast-language: JA;">well today my time is really limited,
because my to-do list is miles long. the day of transfers is upon us, which
means for the next few days i'll be running around like a chicken with my head
cut off. plus we have a dying missionary in our midst (don't worry, she's not
really dying, that just means she's done with her mission in 3 days. don't be
alarmed). yeah, sis. kittima is near the end, so there's a bunch of random
things we need to do. despite all of the that, the work goes forth. two of our
investigators, Bowii and Gift, were baptized on Sunday! and their cousin,
Acare, will be baptized next week. They're the cutest girls ever.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica; mso-bidi-font-family: Helvetica; mso-fareast-language: JA;">The Easter program: We have been practicing
for this for months now. and the night finally came. the day of the performance
we went to Asoke and then practiced about 4 times in a row....WOOF. i was ready
to collapse. it was a really good program, and a lot of time and preparation
went into it. the choir was....great. we tried to sing our little hearts out so
that the altos could hear the part, but alas, it was still a little rough. the
lighting people thought it would be cool to keep changing the color of the
lights shining on us too, so i felt a little bit like i was at some weird dance
party. when it came time for the actual final performance, all went well. The
last note, HOSANNA!, I seriously could not hold it, because one of the tenors
(probably a little deacon, bless his heart) belted out the last note COMPLETELY
off-note. and i just smiled. really big. trying not to laugh. i loved the whole
program, and so did everyone watching. and it wasn't because we were so super
talented, or because we were perfect singers. it was because the saints of
Thailand had gathered together to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ. He
LIVES. whether on tune or not, these sweet people sang with all their hearts
about something that they KNOW. and I know it too. Christ died for us. But He
LIVES for us now. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
First just let me say that I absolutely LOVED general conference, and every single talk (no, not just exaggerating) hit me right in the face. BAM. there's your answer. I was blown away. and i really liked how a big theme of this conference was JESUS CHRIST. i mean, i guess that makes sense, since this is His church and all. but i couldn't help but think of Helaman 5:12 as a theme, especially for the first day. i love that we can go right back to the basics. if we just look at Jesus Christ, and how he lived, we will know exactly what we need to do to be happy. ahhh loved every single minute of it and i'm sad it's over already. Oh guess what. Boo got baptized on Saturday! Bishop said she was good to go after interviewing her another time, just to make sure there were no more thoughts of building a church left in her mind. haha. She really was so happy too, after she was baptized. i explained that she would be asked to bear her testimony afterward, and based on her last testimony-sharing experience, i told her she could just keep it short, and just share her feelings. as she got up, i was still wringing my hands and biting my nails. but all was well. she was indeed a changed person. she talked about finally finding the right path, and that she knew she had been baptized in Christ's true church on the earth today, by the proper authority. her testimony was amazing, leaving me relaxed and happy in my chair. home run, sister boo.<br /><div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This time last year was one of my first days in country, and I was lucky enough to be greeted by the annual water festival...or in other words the Thai New YEAR. Now that it's been a year, and I actually know what's going on, and what people are saying, I'm super excited to go out and play today. I even bought myself a nice flowery shirt. It's tradition. In case you forgot, Songkran is basically an entire 3 days (or more, for those die-hard people who can't give it up) of throwing water at each other, and smearing chalky paste all over everyone's faces. yesterday (sunday) we were trying to make it all day without getting terribly soaked. and we knew we had to be home before 7pm on these next three days. So we headed home from the church around 6:45, pedaling our bikes as fast as we could go. but then we went down the market street. big mistake. we passed a man with a big huge smile on his face as he threw a huge bucket of water at us as we rode by. drenched. haha welcome to Songkran. then we got home, inside our gate, and sister Kittima told me to lock it up....while she then grabbed the hose and sprayed me down completely, laughing hysterically the whole time! so then we had our own little water fight, right outside our door. we're so cool.</div>
</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
have a great week!</div>

<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
so i know we're a little behind the times here as far as general conference goes. we have to wait a week for the broadcast, and then we all get to go to the church and watch it. CAN't WAIT. Call me a typical missionary, but general conference is like Christmas. except it comes twice a year. oh and just a sidenote, i don't know if anyone noticed, but they called Elder Konnakam to be an area authority of the 70. He's from Thailand! tHis is the first EVER from Thailand. So cool!</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
this week was really good. we were crazy blessed and saw a lot of miracles. throughout the week i kept thinking..'crap. nobody's going to come to church, because we haven't found anyone in this heat that wants to talk to us.' along came saturday, and after calling everyone in my planner we had around 17 investigators confirm for church the next morning. not all 17 of them showed up, but 14 of them did! it's like God just shook the earth a little bit, and golden, prepared people just fell out of the cracks right into our laps. the field is white, and so ready to harvest, and we're seeing the fruits of the harvest. we have an investigator that's planning on being baptized this next weekend. she was actually gonna get baptized yesterday, but then we decided she needed to wait a week so she could understand what we taught her a little better....she thought she could just go out and build a church. she has great intentions and isn't trying to be apostate or start a new church or anything, but she really did think that she could use her 40 acres of land and just build a church in a city where there isn't any churches right now. to make things more interesting, she got up in testimony meeting and announced to everyone that this was her plan. she just needed some help from the members, etc. WOOF. that poor, confused woman. i just wanted to crawl in a hole and hide, especially when she mentioned my name 3 or 4 times. hahaha. i think the second she sat down, bishop hurriedly pulled her out and sat down and had a good talk with her. we met with her after church too, and reviewed the restoration. we talked about God's authority, and how these kind of things have to be decided by God, through His prophet. Not by sister Boo. i think she understands now, because now it seems like she's trying to be extra good, and prove that she's really ready to get baptized next week...the rest of the day she was singing extra loud and almost yelling 'amen' to show her enthusiasm.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
today we had a zone sports day. i haven't played basketball for....a long time...actually probably since the last zone sports day haha. wow. i'm way out of shape. and my body let me know that so graciously. whenever we have a sports activity and i end up soaking wet, i just tell people it was raining. it might as well have been. that or i just took a sweat shower.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
this is about all i can think to say, so until next week, have a wonderful 7 days.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
love you!</div>

Although it's not much better once i go outside. i'm realizing that it is DEFINITELY the HOT season. this week street contacting was KILLER. if my message didn't turn people away, then my appearance surely did. hi, my name is sister steele, and i'm a hot, gross, sticky, sweaty mess. every once in a while i run into a friendly person that will see that i'm dying of heat as i try to give my little schpiel (sp?) about baptism, and they'll hurry and pull me into the shade so that i don't have to suffer anymore. every time we go out and invite people on the streets for 3-4 hrs. or so, i have to think long and hard about why i'm here. not that i have any doubts or anything. no, of course not. but day after day, when everyone here thinks we're crazy, and wonders why we come back every single day to face the heat and the rejection, i'm glad that i have a reason for it. and it's a reason that trumps all. JESUS CHRIST. because I know that He lives. Because I know that He knows the way back. He knows the way because He IS the way. He really is the only way. and people here, people all around the world, don't know that yet. and i know that my small inconveniences or obstacles are nothing compared to what Christ endured. and any time that some shrewd little old man, or some grumpy middle aged woman tells me that 'nobody here is interested. go home.', i get to turn to them (with probably a little more sassy-ness than necessary) and tell them that yes, people here are interested. because God is preparing people to receive His truth. because just yesterday, there were 9 people that followed the example of Jesus Christ and were baptized at our church. because in the month of March, there were 212 people who became members of the true Church of Jesus Christ. so yes, it is worth it. whenever i get stuck in my own little world of blazing heat, rejection, and 7/11, i pull back and look at the big picture. This mission is seeing so many miracles! in Novemeber, we had never seen more than 80 baptisms in a month, and then broke 100. and now it's doubled. but this isn't about the numbers. this is about people. God is preparing people, and we're finding them. and now i can't wait for april.</span><br />
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
now that i've gone on and on, here's to another week! make it good:)</div>

And just so you know this letter may be kind of short, because my plans for this p-day include eating and lots of sleeping. NAPTIME. there is no time to be wasted. WOOF. even though i'm dragging, i'd rather be tired out of my mind as opposed to having energy to spare, knowing i could have given more. anyway...</span><br />
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
satan has been working really hard this week. stupid satan. within our district we had 4 people pass baptismal interviews...and then for some reason or another, they got cold feet. kind of a bummer. but in the end, i'm thankful. i'm thankful that these people still have the ability to CHOOSE. sometimes i just want everyone to be baptized, to just tell them this is what they're doing whether they like it or not, because this is true, and this is what they need. but if i forced anyone into the water, that would be satan's plan. so when you think long and hard enough, satan's really working against his own plan. God wants us to do good. so when satan tempts us, he's giving us that second choice (bad)...hence giving us the opportunity to choose. take that satan. ok...maybe that makes zero sense. but it worked in my head while i was writing it...now i'm just confusing myself.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
so last week we became a trio. this week we became a companionship again. Sister Stack is sick and recovering in another area of BKK, so since we're already a threesome, sis. holmes went to be sis. stack's companion's temporary companion. confusing. basically, now it's just me and sis. kittima here. things are still going really well, and we should be having a few baptisms next week. but sis. holmes is surely missed, but hopefully she'll be back in no time!</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
well, with not a whole lot left to say, i hope everyone has a good week this week. as hannah montana says..."LIFE is what you make it. So let's make it ROCK."</div>

<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
like i've said many times before, a LOT can happen in a week. so because i'm really lazy to tell it in story format, i think i'll just go day by day and list every adventure that we've had.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Monday: my stomach shrunk in the hospital, because i was barely eating anything, but don't worry, Monday took it back to its normal size. we did all of our errands and then ate KFC. and then a member wanted to take us to lunch, and we couldn't just not eat...of course. so then i just ate a second lunch. and then cursed myself throughout the whole 30 min. bike ride home...</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Tuesday: Zone Conference. SO GOOD. especially because this one pumped us up, rather than telling us all the things we're doing wrong. we even had a scripture chase/jeopardy game. and our district happened to win, so then i got to eat a mini snickers bar. it was worth it.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Wednesday/Thursday: got a call from the A.P.'s that we would be getting a 3rd companion...at first i was really skeptical about how it would work out. but it's actually been reallly really good. her name is Sis. Kittima, she is Thai, and she has 6 weeks left on her mission. so basically now i am in a companionship with someone who can barely speak Thai, and someone who can barely speak English...and it's going really well! i loved my threesome in the MTC, but i wasn't sure how it would be out in the field. it makes things more fun, and we work really well together. thank goodness.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Friday: i had already planned to do a switch-off with some other sisters in our zone, so when we all of a sudden became a trio...ummm...yeah i didn't really know how a switch-off would work. but we made it work. poor sis. kittima got in the night before, and then i made her and sis. holmes go to Bangnaa sis. adams to work for the day, while sis. barton came to saphansung with me. we spent a lot of time in the sun. and got sunburned. and apparently sis. holmes got stuck on the subway and temporarily separated from sis. kittima and sis. adams. hahahaha. overall: switch-off=success. yay.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Saturday: first real day of work with sis. kittima. everything, in sis. holmes words, went "swimmingly." we were able to teach some really good lessons, and i'm really excited to be able to hear sis. kittima teach! she's an amazing teacher, and speaks WAYYY better Thai than i do...because she's been speaking it since birth. so hopefully that will work to my advantage. </div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Sunday: awesome. A cute little mom we've been teaching, Wi, and her daughter Belle, came to church, and she brought her son this time too,Big. So now they can all get baptized next SUnday together!! so exciting. oh, and on a very unexciting note, sis. holmes bike got stolen. from the church. i don't know if i trust anyone now. we're still hoping and praying that a member just borrowed it for a bit or something. we went inviting at a market, and we got to eat a fried frog. and as Dewey would say, it was "YUMMO!"</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
well that's about all. today is monday, and i'm going bowling. i guess it could be fun...one of these days i will learn to love it:)</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
love you all!</div>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica; mso-bidi-font-family: Helvetica; mso-fareast-language: JA;">As i've said time and time again, time here
is strange. SO much can happen in just one week. If i have what i call
"poop days" at the beginning of the week, i just have to keep telling
myself that the end of the week will be so much better. just keep pushing. last
wednesday i started feeling really crummy, and my fever wouldn't go down. so
finally on friday when i couldn't even get out of bed we decided to take
everyone's advice and go find a doctor. and then i had Dengue fever. the doctor
said i needed to be admitted, and i wasn't too happy about that, because we had
a lot going on that week. we were supposed to have a few people getting
baptized at church, and i really wanted to be there. i asked if i could just
wait until sunday and then be admitted and he said "no." and then i
asked if i could just leave the hospital for 4 hours on sunday and then come
back, and he looked at me like i was stupid. so then i sat in a hospital bed
for 4 days. i will admit, i felt WORLDS better once they started pumping drugs
through me. but i think i just about went crazy just sitting there and doing
nothing. all in all, i found out that the work will go on without me, which is
a good thing. our baptisms for sunday went through, and we got it approved to
do a switch-off with some senior couples so that sis.holmes could go to church
while someone came and babysat me in the hospital. so it was good that at least
one of us could be there. anyway, they let me go home on tuesday! we had an
exterminator go to our house to get rid of all the diseased mosquitoes, and
they told us we could go back to the house after 2 hours. so we waited an extra
2 hours at the hospital before leaving to go home. and then when we finally got
home, we open the doors and it's still completely filled with toxic smoke.
cool. so then we're racing in and out, holding our breath, turning on fans,
opening windows, etc. so i don't have dengue anymore, i just get to breathe in
mosquito gas while i sleep. yeah...our house still smells kinda funky. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-layout-grid-align: none; mso-pagination: none; text-autospace: none;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-layout-grid-align: none; mso-pagination: none; text-autospace: none;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica; mso-bidi-font-family: Helvetica; mso-fareast-language: JA;">anyway, after that little escapade, our week
was just normal. and it did get better. we're teaching a cute little mom and
her daughter, and they're getting baptized next sunday! and the last lesson we
had with them really got me thinking about how the gospel of Jesus Christ
really does HELP people. she's at a low point in her life and searching for
something more than what she has right now. all it took was one lesson. one time.
one time telling her that she's not alone but that she has a Savior who knows
how she feels and knows how to help her. this message has power. the power to
help people realize, "oh. i CAN change." the Atonement is for
everyone. Like Elder Bednar says, it helps bad men become good, but it also
helps good men become better. and how grateful i am that i don't have to be
stuck, doing the same thing, in my same way, as my small, insignificant self.
but that i can be something more. that i can literally be changed, and become
someone much more than 'normal'. After all, the plan is for ALL of us to become
like God. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

Thank you for sharing your beautiful daughters with us here in Bangkok! Even while in the hospital, they were doing their work! These photos were when I sat with Sis. Steele on Sunday at the hospital while Sis. Holmes attended church and baptisms of their two converts. The sister on the bed was one that got baptized and came to visit her missionary. The 2 young men are members of the ward that wanted to visit and the YM in glasses even offered a prayer for Sis. Steele before they left. SO cute, it just warmed your heart.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
Your daughters are doing well and are a great asset for the mission. Take heart in knowing they are being cared for by tge Mission Pres and his wife. They are very "hands on" leaders here in working with these young people. We are all blessed to be serving with them.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
I understand the sisters are back home now so when I see them again, I will try to get more photos to send to you.</div>
<div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px;">
With warm regards,</div>

hey,<div>

just in case i don't get a chance to email again, just wanted to let you know i won't be sending out an email today. i've been in the hospital since friday and should hopefully only be here a couple more days. i was having some symptoms and then i tested positive for dengue fever. but once i got into the hospital i feel worlds better. it's just a matter of letting the 7 day period pass, becuase that's how long it usually lasts. they need to wait til my blood platelets are at a safe level. i'm really doing just fine though so you don['t need to worry:) i have already seen so many miracles this weekend. we still baptized 2 people at church, even though we couldn't really be there. i love you so much!! and don't worry about me!</div>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica; mso-bidi-font-family: Helvetica; mso-fareast-language: JA;"><o:p> </o:p></span><span style="font-family: Helvetica;">sorry i'm a little late in writing again
today. i hope mom hasn't been calling dad every 30 min. :) don't worry i'm safe
and sound. i was at Safari World this morning. it's a magical place. i saw 4
tigers, 300 giraffe (one of which chomped on my shoulder), 5 monkeys in a
boxing ring, i bought really expensive ice-cream, touched an elephant, and was
kissed by a dolphin. all in one day. i'm set. oh and the taxi drivers tried to
rip me off on the way there AND on the way back. good thing i made them feel
really stupid when they realized i could actually speak Thai and knew my way
around. "200 baht." "no way. we paid 100 baht on the way here.
it's not even that far." "....oh...(nervous laugh)."</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica; mso-bidi-font-family: Helvetica; mso-fareast-language: JA;">so this week was transfers meeting.
apparently 98% of the missionaries moved. lucky for me and sis. holmes, we are
still here in Saphansung. they invited everyone to go to transfers though. i'm
really happy about it too, because they announced some pretty big news. In
November, Pres. Holland granted permission for us to send in the first
missionaries to Myanmar!! THey have actually been there 2 months, but couldn't
tell anyone. But it's official now, and everyone can know, which is why i'm
telling you. it will be like the missionaries in Laos, where they're not
exactly allowed to proselyte, but they teach English class and get
investigators through that. so exciting! also, there are two areas that haven't
had sisters before, or at least not for a long time, and they just opened them
up! Nong Khai and Chiang Rai. Sister Madsen is going to Chiang Rai!! There's
crazy things happening in the mission, and i can't wait for March. We're
raising the bar again, and hoping to see each companionship have 2 baptisms.
the work is picking up, and it really can't be attributed to anything but God.
we met a girl named Meaw last week. LAST WEEK. she's baptized now. because she
was ready. on Sunday there were so many random investigators that came to church,
and 3 of them should be getting baptized this next Sunday. sometimes i think
i'm not fit or capable to keep up with God's pace. but then i remember that i
am literally just his tool. that's all. so hopefully i don't malfunction and
mess it all up. but it can't be messed up. because God's work is perfect. He is
perfect. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
